F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions)

What is web forwarding?

Web forwarding (also known as web redirection) is a service that allows you to create a short, memorable web address that can then be used to forward visitors to any other website or web address. It works just like call forwarding on your phone. A web redirect address looks like:

page.to/fred

And it includes a matching email address like:

fred@page.to

It takes only seconds to create an account, and your web forwarding starts working immediately. You can change the destination address of your web forward at any time you like simply by logging into your account, and changes take effect instantaneously: no waiting for domain servers to catch up!

And, best of all, it's FREE.

Why do I need your service?

Over 100 million domain names have now been registered, making it virtually impossible to find a domain name that matches your personal or business needs. Long, hyphenated domains are difficult to remember, thus limiting your ability to increase traffic to your website.

Our web redirects are a terrific option. They are free, short and memorable and rank highly in search engines. You can create as many redirect addresses as you like within the same account, and point them to as many or as few destination addresses as you like. Since our addresses are intuitive and easy to remember, visitors will never forget where your site is and can easily recommend it to their friends.

Just think how much easier it is to remember page.to/myshop than it is to try and remember www.the-only-decent-domain-left.com! And because you can easily change where your redirect address points to, you can always redirect the traffic you build under that address to any other site you like. No more losing visitors when you switch hosting providers!

And every web redirect comes with its own free email redirect. Email addresses such as fred@page.to are much more personal and memorable than johndoe13340@hotmail.com. And because you can easily change where your mail is forwarded to, it won't matter if you change your email provider: your page.to address will last a lifetime. It really is the only email address you will ever need!

Are these web addresses universally recognized?

Yes, they work just like a 'regular dot-com' address.

What are the different address formats?

Our addresses are very flexible and can be used in multiple ways. If you create an address like page.to/fred, all of the addresses below will forward website traffic to the same destination address:

page.to/fred
www.page.to/fred
fred.page.to
www.fred.page.to

What do I need to get started?

Just choose your new address, enter your current email address and you're done! We'll send you a mail telling you how to activate your account, select your destination web and email addresses and choose your account password. The whole process only takes a couple of minutes, and your account will be live immediately.

How many addresses can I set up?

You can set up as many addresses as you like. You only need to create one account: once your account is activated, you can then easily set up multiple addresses and manage them all from the same login.

Are there any restrictions on how long my address can be?

Your redirect address can be up to 30 characters long (excluding the domain name). You can use letters, numbers, hyphens and periods in your address.

What can I do if the address I want is not available?

Try another one! Our system will suggest some alternatives for you, but we have dozens of other domains you can try. Keep searching until you find the one that best suits your purposes.

How long can I keep my address for?

As long as it's active, it's yours for life! If your destination web address returns a 404 (File Not Found) error for more than three months, we'll send you a mail asking if you still want to keep the account active. If you no longer want or need the address, we'll release it so that someone else can use it.

I like your service, but I don't have a website to point my address to. What can I do?

If you're looking for a web hosting service where you can create a new website or upload a pre-built website, we strongly recommend FortuneCity.com. FortuneCity has been in business since 1997 and offers a free web space service as well as a full slate of small business hosting and email services.

Or you can sign up for one of the popular social networking services such as Myspace, Facebook, or Bebo. Our addresses work with anything!

Are there any restrictions on what I can use my account for?

Your destination address must not contain pornography, adult, illegal, profane or defamatory content. You must not promote your address using spam or any other illegal means. Your destination site content must be in one of the following languages:

Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, or Turkish.

Due to the potential for spam and abuse, we do not allow addresses to be pointed to ad farms, affiliate program URLs or pay-per-click sites.

We do not allow redirects to online gambling sites.

You must own or be responsible for the content of your destination address. Please don't link to other people's sites.

I didn't receive the activation mail. Help!

The most likely reasons for this are: a) you accidentally mistyped your email address when signing up; b) the mail ended up in your bulk mail folder; c) there is a problem with your email provider's system; d) our mail was blocked by your email provider. Note that sometimes it can take a little while for your email provider to process incoming mail. If you still don't receive or can't find the activation mail, drop us a line at and we'll send another mail out to you.

I can't see my destination site. What's happening?

First, make sure that you have correctly activated your account. Then, log in to your account and check that you entered the destination address correctly. You can click on your destination address in the Account Manager and this will launch your destination site in a new window. If you still can't see your site properly, the the problem lies at the destination end, not with your page.to account.

I can't log in to my account. What can I do?

If you've forgotten your login information, visit our Forgot Password Page and we'll send your login details to the email address you signed up with. If you no longer have access to that email account, drop us a line at and we'll send your details to you. If you're sure you're entering the correct information, make sure your browser is not blocking our login cookie. Still no luck? Mail us at and we'll sort it out for you.

Note that if we suspend your account for any reason, we will always send a notification mail to the email address you signed up with.

Mail sent to my mail redirect address isn't showing up in my destination inbox. What's wrong?

Make sure that the mail isn't being sent to your bulk mail folder. If not, ask your email provider if they are blocking or filtering email from the page.to domain. It's always a good idea to whitelist our domain in your email preferences, if your provider has that option.

How do I change my redirect name?

It's not possible to change your redirect name. Instead, create a new redirect with the same details as the existing one, and then delete the existing one.

My contact email address has changed. Could you update the email address on my account?

Sure, just drop us a line at and we'll change it for you. (Please include your account password in your mail so we know it's really you.) Remember that you can change your destination email address(es) at any time by simply logging in to your account.

How do I delete my account?

Just drop us a line at and we'll delete it for you. Please include your account password in your mail so we know it's really you.

What do '.to' and '.at' stand for?

The .to domain is the country-level domain for the Kingdom of Tonga, part of the beautiful Friendly Islands in the Pacific Ocean. The '.at' domain is the country-level domain for Austria.
